In our effort to better meet the needs of students, teachers and schools, we are now providing all necessary information for school tours online including online confirmations, printable forms and other information related to touring Old Alabama Town with your students. These include Museum Manners - A guide to museum conduct, maps and other information that teachers, students and drivers find useful.

Resources for School Tours

Confirmation Information:
Gathering the following information prior to filling out the Online Confirmation Form will greatly aid you in filling out the Confirmation Form:

  • Confirmation Number: (This number is contained in the e-mail that you received from Old Alabama town)
  • School Grade: (Grade of the attending class)
  • Date: (The date of your tour)
  • Tour: (The tour you booked)-(view tours and their details here)
  • Time: (Time of your tour)
  • Students: (Number of students attending)
  • Adults: (Number of adults attending)
  • Teachers: (Number of teachers attending)
  • Address: (Your School's Address)
  • Phone: (Your phone number and the phone number of your school)
  • Fax: (The fax number at your school)

Whether you use the Online Confirmation Form or the Printable Confirmation Form, they must be filled out completely and returned at least two weeks prior to your desired tour date. A two week cancellation notice is required if you will be unable to attend at the specified times and dates. Please be conscious of this as it could have an effect on other schools.

Tour Admission: Student: $4.00, Adult: $7.00
Combination Tour: Student: $7, Adult:$13
Special Discount: $1.00 off each ticket in September and January
Complementary: 1 Adult per 25 people
Grange Hall Admission: K-3: $4.00; 4, 5, 6th grade: $5.00

Did You Know?

On the evening of April 2, 1825, the famous French hero Marquis de Lafayette stopped for food, drink and a night's rest at Lucas Tavern. The historically preserved structure is available for viewing daily at Old Alabama Town.

 

Famous Alabamians

Birmingham native Emmylou Harris is a legendary singer-songwriter. The multi-Grammy Award winner has been named to VH1's list of 100 Most Influential Women in Rock and Roll and CMT's 40 Greatest Women of Country Music. In 2010, she is reorganizing the iconic music festival of the 1990s, Lilith Fair.

This Month in Alabama History

On July 27, 1863, William Lowndes Yancey died at the age of 48. The main author of Alabama's ordinance of secession, which removed Alabama from the Union, he was one of the leading "fire-eaters" who influenced southern states to secede. His former home is on site at Old Alabama Town.
